Curbside Crafters started its beginnings in December 2021. As an activation team, Curbside Crafters explored the idea of curating a new age boutique marketplace in a pair of charming shophouses located in the heart of Bugis and Kampong Glam.
While many flea markets and bazaars were cancelled over the past year due to Covid, Curbside Crafters was launched. It quickly became a new immersive retail boutique store that locals visit to get their best finds when it comes to handmade goodies and timeless fashion pieces.
The spaces in the shophouse are specially curated to #supportlocal and this is a haven for micro entrepreneurs, crafters and creative teachers to showcase their craftmanship. In addition to handmade crafts, Curbside Crafters creates opportunities for home-based businesses like Bootleg Brew and Bakes – an artisanal baker and coffee barista to pursue their entrepreneurial dream at a pop-up stall with a community of like-minded individuals.
SnacKING Retro Biscuits has also come onboard during our launch to offer an assortment of childhood snacks at this boutique bazaar. Customers took a trip down the memory lane when they mixed and matched their favourite snacks from a whole row of the old-school biscuit tins. It was not surprising if one felt like a kid again while choosing a snack during our launch dates!
With a mission to nurture young brands, Curbside Crafters officially opened its doors to welcome the public from 4 December 2021 at 730 North Bridge Road. Together with out international and local artisanal crafters and vendors, we welcome a new era of pop-up shopping at a newly renovated venue adorned with exciting brightly -coloured terrazzo decor.
Before Curbside Crafters was fully renovated, the team had to rely on our artists’ impressions to describe the venue to our vendors who are interested to join us for the launch.
Curbside team has always been very thankful to all the vendors who had put their trust in us before the renovations were completed and joined us for the launch! We have documented our renovation journey and here are some snippets:
We are glad that all the wait was worthwhile and the team managed to transform a charming 3-storey shophouse into a buzzy and creative marketplace will present a shopping paradise for all and one can explore and indulge in locally produced snacks and drinks, handcrafted goods and bespoke items. In line with the festive season, one can also get their hands on a whopping variety of independent brands and exclusive pieces as gifts. From kitschy souvenirs to independent fashion, it is unlikely for anyone to leave this bazaar empty handed.
